Ryan Gaffney isn’t an athletic trainer but he does think the profession is one that deserves more attention and credit for what they bring to the table. We connected with Ryan after he tagged us in a post about ATCs in the industrial setting. Ryan played hockey in college and in juniors and had a couple great interactions with athletic trainers that helped him out through some pretty significant injuries.
We also talk about the importance of athletic trainers in the business and industrial setting. Ryan has seen this importance with a previous guest, Andrea Dosedla, but also as a small business owner is seeing the importance for himself. We talk about ideas and mindsets that athletic trainers need to highlight to break into this setting and have a major impact. Enjoy.
Take Aways:
+ATCs can basically do it all and the broad/general knowledge is an asset.
+ATC Skillset can fit in great in wellness programs.
+Need to focus on data and outcome measures. Show you're worth.
+Get out there and communicate
+Educate (may even brag) on the profession
