Rob Dicks does just a little bit of about everything. Not only does Rob wear multiple hats as an athletic trainer, he goes beyond that with administrative duties, community volunteering and his mentorship.
In this episode we talk about two major topics that all athletic trainers probably have a connection to. The first one is mentoring and mentorship. Rob has a unique place in his mentorship roles and how many people that he provides a listening ear to and guidance when they need it. Rob also flips mentorship on its head and is very aware about what he can learn from younger professionals and the importance of staying open to that possibility.
The other main area we discuss is multi-taking, a cornerstone of every athletic trainers professional life. Rob is extremely busy and it can be easy to let one area of life bleed into another. Rob discusses how he approaches handling all the responsibilities placed on him. Rob discusses some great insight and takeaways to try and implement to help juggle all responsibilities.
